1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using marsRocketWords ("the Service", "the game") at https://rocketwords.matthewaroberts.com, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.

These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and the operator of marsRocketWords. Please read them carefully.

2. Eligibility

By registering, you confirm that you meet the age requirement and that the information you provide is accurate.

marsRocketWords is not directed at children under 13. If we discover that a user is under 13, we will immediately delete their account and associated data.

3. User Accounts

Registration

You must register for an account to play. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information and to keep it updated.

Account Security

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to:

• Choose a strong, unique password
• Not share your account credentials with anyone
• Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorised access to your account

One Account Per Person

You may not create or operate more than one account. Creating multiple accounts to gain a competitive advantage (farming points, leaderboard manipulation, etc.) is prohibited and will result in all accounts being terminated.

Account Deletion

You may request deletion of your account at any time by contacting us. Upon deletion, your personal data will be removed in accordance with our Privacy Policy. Purchased points balances are forfeited upon account deletion and will not be refunded.

4. Gameplay Rules

marsRocketWords is a competitive word-transformation game. The following rules apply to all players:

• Both players must enter valid dictionary words as their starting word
• Each move must produce a valid dictionary word (subject to slang settings chosen at game creation)
• Players must compete in good faith — using automation, bots, or scripts to play is prohibited
• Rocket Power moves (swapLetters, reverseWord, multiChange) require purchased charges from the Store
• Game outcomes, points awarded, and leaderboard positions are final once recorded

We reserve the right to investigate suspicious gameplay patterns and remove fraudulently earned points or statistics.

5. Virtual Points and the Store

Points System

marsRocketWords uses two types of virtual points:

• Total Points — your all-time leaderboard score. Earned by winning games. Never decreases.
• Points Balance — your spendable currency. Earned by winning games and purchased via PayPal. Spent in the Store.

Store Purchases

The Store allows you to spend your Points Balance to purchase Rocket Power charges (in-game abilities). These purchases are final — charges spent during gameplay are consumed and are not refundable.

6. Payments and Refunds

Point Packages

You may purchase Points Balance top-ups through PayPal. Available packages are listed in the Store. All prices are in USD and include any applicable taxes.

Payment Processing

All payments are processed by PayPal. By making a purchase, you also agree to PayPal's User Agreement. We do not store your payment card details.

Refund Policy

• Unspent Points Balance — if you have not spent purchased points, contact us within 14 days of purchase and we will assess a refund request on a case-by-case basis.
• Spent Points — points that have been spent in the Store (converted to Rocket Power charges) are non-refundable, whether or not the charges have been used in gameplay.
• Fraudulent charges — if a purchase was made fraudulently without your authorisation, contact us immediately and we will work with PayPal to resolve the issue.

To request a refund, contact us at support@marsrocketwords.game with your PayPal order ID.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use bots, scripts, or automated tools to play, farm points, or manipulate leaderboards
• Exploit bugs or vulnerabilities — report them to us instead
• Attempt to access another user's account
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or modify the Service
• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
• Harass, abuse, or impersonate other users
• Interfere with the availability or integrity of the Service (e.g. denial-of-service attacks)
• Create multiple accounts to circumvent bans or gain unfair advantages

Violation of these rules may result in immediate account suspension or termination without refund.

8. Intellectual Property

All content in marsRocketWords — including game code, graphics, design, text, logos, and the marsRocketWords name — is owned by or licensed to us and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws.

You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to access and use the Service for your personal, non-commercial enjoyment. You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, or create derivative works without our express written permission.

Your username and any in-game content you create (such as word choices) remain yours, but you grant us a licence to display and process that content as necessary to operate the game.

9. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not warrant that:

• The Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure at all times
• Any defects will be corrected
• The Service or servers are free of viruses or harmful components

Dictionary validation is provided on a best-efforts basis. We do not guarantee that every valid word is accepted or that every invalid word is rejected.

10. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES — INCLUDING LOSS OF DATA, LOSS OF POINTS OR IN-GAME ITEMS, OR LOSS OF REVENUE — ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE.

OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR (B) USD $10.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or limitation of liability, so some of the above may not apply to you.

11. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time, with or without notice, if we believe you have violated these Terms or if required to do so by law.

Upon termination:

• Your access to the Service will cease immediately
• Your Points Balance and Rocket Power charges are forfeited without refund (unless termination was in error — contact us)
• Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (intellectual property, liability limitations, governing law) will remain in effect

You may terminate your account at any time by contacting us. Active PayPal subscriptions (if any) must be cancelled separately through your PayPal account.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law. Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the Service that cannot be resolved informally shall be submitted to the competent courts of the jurisdiction in which the operator is located.

If you are an EU consumer, you also have the right to use the EU Online Dispute Resolution platform.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top. For material changes, we will notify users via a notice on the site.

Continued use of the Service after updated Terms are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you must stop using the Service.
